
Okunade (Oak) Olateru-Olagbegi, PharmD
Dr. Okunade (Oak) Olateru-Olagbegi is a pharmacist with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Howard University, where he honed both his clinical knowledge and leadership skills. His academic foundation began at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he earned a B.A. in Biological Sciences. He aims to continue his professional growth by finishing his MBA degree.
His early career has been marked by efforts in bridging clinical development, public health, and medical communications. During his time at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, he worked closely with the Clinical Operations team on global Phase 3 studies, including GIVLAARI®, while building internal tools to support operational oversight and risk tracking. His externships at the VA Medical Center and the BGB Group further illustrate his versatility—ranging from data-driven process improvement to the development of medically accurate content for client-facing deliverables.
Outside of Pharma and clinic, Dr. Olateru-Olagbegi has consistently used his platform to educate and inform. He has delivered presentations on topics like FDA decision-making, HIV education for underserved communities, and system-wide pharmacy analytics. His scientific contributions also include co-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals covering microbiological genomics.
In this current role, Dr. Olateru-Olagbegi seeks to glean as much as possible as he supports the advancement of regulatory science and contributes to the FDA’s efforts to modernize product development pathways and drive forward meaningful innovation.
