Perpetue Backer, PhD
Dr. Perpetue Bataille Backer is the Regulatory Science, Innovation, and Health Equity Fellow for 2024-25 at the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the FDA. She holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science from Howard University, with her graduate work centered on utilizing peptide drug conjugates for site-specific drug delivery for gliomas.
Dr. Backer previously served as an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) Fellow at the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), as well as a Beacon of Hope Fellow at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research. Prior to her fellowship roles, Dr. Backer worked as a Manufacturing Associate in the purification department at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc.
