FDA flubs guidance to restaurant industry on disclosing calories for menus on delivery platforms - The Center for Science in the Public Interest

Americans deserve to know how many calories we’re ordering when we order restaurant meals.

FDA regulations are clear: chain restaurants with 20 or more locations across the U.S. are required to post calories on their menus, including “menus on the Internet.” Menus from covered chain restaurants maintained on third-party platforms like DoorDash and Uber Eats are menus on the Internet and should be covered by these rules.

Review after review must still be completed before changes can occur at the FDA - LexBlog

It’s been 18 months since the FDA began studying problems in its Human Foods Program and an update from the agency says it will take more time to implement changes.

The head of the Food and Drug Administration said on Dec. 13 that he is “hopeful” that changes will come sometime in 2024.
