The form allowed members of the public to describe personal or professional experiences regarding the use of opioid medications for the management of pain and addiction. Patients, family members/caregivers, healthcare providers, drug developers, and others were encouraged to submit comments. We also sought suggestions for how to improve the regulation of opioid medications and facilitate the development of safe and effective nonaddictive medical products to treat pain or addiction. The deadline to submit written comments was September 23, 2026.
