Applying the Science of Infant Formula Safety:
Insights From Recent Recall Activity and the Latest Research on C. botulinum
The Reagan‑Udall Foundation for the FDA will convene an in‑person roundtable, Applying the Science of Infant Formula Safety: Insights From Recent Recall Activity and the Latest Research on C. botulinum, bringing together a small group of infant formula manufacturers, researchers, and food safety experts who are directly involved in developing, producing, and testing infant formula products. The roundtable will focus on the current state of Clostridium botulinum testing in powdered infant formula and dairy‑based ingredients, including the strengths and limitations of existing testing methods and opportunities to improve them. The Foundation will publish a public summary report following the event to capture key insights and potential recommendations, helping extend the value of the discussion and support ongoing efforts to strengthen the safety and nutritional integrity of the infant formula supply.
ByHeart and the International Dairy Foods Association provided funding for this meeting.
